David Duchovny has signed on to write and star in a new Showtime series based on his fourth novel “Truly Like Lightning”.
The project would mark a return of “The X-Files” star to the premium cabler following a seven season stint as the lead in the series “Californication” for them from 2007-2014.
The story follows a retired stunt performer (Duchovny) from Hollywood that has escaped modern life to live off-grid with his three wives and ten children.
But his humble, quiet existence is thrown on its head with a real estate mogul notices all of his land in Joshua Tree and wants to buy it and return the family to the modern world.
Though still in early development, if the show moves to the pilot stage then “The Peanut Butter Falcon” directors Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz are expected to take the helm.
