“Mortal Kombat” Delayed A Week

The highly anticipated upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game “Mortal Kombat” has been delayed a week – moving from April 16th to April 23rd.

The move comes in the wake of “Black Widow” departing the early May release slot, as a result the R-rated ‘Kombat’ will now have a longer time without many challengers and so has been spaced out more to avoid cannibalizing ticket sales.

The push back of a week means there’s now a fairly regular three-week space between Warners/HBO Max releases with “Godzilla vs. Kong” this week, “Mortal Kombat” on April 23rd, the Angelina Jolie-led and Taylor Sheridan-directed “Those Who Wish Me Dead” on May 14th, and the third main “The Conjuring” feature on June 4th.

The push comes as capacity restrictions are expected to be relaxed in coming weeks with Los Angeles county expected to allow an increased indoor capacity to 50% or 200 people from tomorrow.
