Lionsgate has moved up the action-comedy sequel “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” by two months – opening the Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson-led sequel now on June 16th rather than its previously slated late August date.
The move follows in the wake of 20th Century Studios’ Ryan Reynolds-ed action-comedy “Free Guy” shifting to August 13th.
The Summer film calendar is beginning to stabilise and even grow more populated as distributors are feeling more confident with at least one major theatrical title now scheduled each week from Memorial Day.
In its new slot, “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” opens against “In the Heights” on June 11th and “F9: The Fast Saga” on June 25th along with the streaming premieres of Pixar’s “Luca” on Disney+ and the Kevin Hart-led “Fatherhood” on Netflix on June 18th.
