IFC Midnight has acquired the rights to Neill Blomkamp’s supernatural horror film “Demonic” and slated an August 20th release. Carly Pope, Chris William Martin and Michael Rogers star.
The story follows a young woman who unleashes terrifying demons when the supernatural forces at the root of a decades-old rift between mother and daughter are ruthlessly revealed. [Source: IFC]
Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris
Focus Features has acquired the worldwide rights to the Lesley Manville-led and Anthony Fabian-helmed drama “Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris” based on Paul Gallico’s novella. Isabelle Huppert, Jason Isaacs and Lambert Wilson co-star.
The story centers on a widowed cleaning lady in 1950s London who falls madly in love with a couture Dior dress. After she works, starves and gambles to raise the funds to obtain it, she embarks on an adventure to Paris that will change not only her own outlook, but the very future of the fashion label. “7th Heaven” and “Hart of Dixie” actor Barry Watson is returning to The CW, joining Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship’s comic book adaptation pilot “Naomi”.
The story follows a teen girl (Kaci Walfall) and her journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse after a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core. Watson will play her adoptive father – a veteran military officer serious about his responsibilities. [Source: The Live Feed]
Mare of Easttown
Kate Winslet plays a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder at a time when her own life is crumbling around her in HBO’s “Mare of Easttown” which has just released an official trailer.
Brad Ingelsby created the drama, wrote all the episodes and will serve as showrunner while Gavin O’Connor directs. Evan Peters, Guy Pearce and Jean Smart co-star in the series which begins April 18th.
