Creator Don Mancini has confirmed on social media that production on SYFY and USA Network’s long-in the works TV series continuation of the “Child’s Play” franchise has begun.
Delayed last year due to the ongoing pandemic, the series is titled “Chucky” and is now on track for a debut this Fall with Mancini showrunning, penning and directing the first episode called “Death by Misadventure”.
The new comes a week after it was revealed Fiona Dourif had signed on to reprise her role as Nica Pierce from the two previous films. She joins Devon Sawa and fellow returnees Brad Dourif and Jennifer Tilly in the cast.
The series sees a vintage Chucky doll turning up at a suburban yard sale in an idyllic American town, which is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the area’s hypocrisies and secrets.
The arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threaten to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
This is no April Fools’ joke. #CHUCKY the series is officially in production and coming to @USA_Network and @SYFY this fall. If you can’t wait that long…catch the Chucky movie marathon airing ALL DAY today on SYFY! pic.twitter.com/GXhBN4TPvH
