CBS has officially handed out a series order for “CSI: Vegas,” the planned revival of the flagship series in the franchise.
Arriving twenty-one-years after the original premiered, William Petersen, Jorja Fox and Wallace Langham will reprise their roles in the crime drama which is targeting a 2021-22 TV season run.
CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television, which produced the original, have been in development of the revival for over a year. The new series will see an “existential threat” to the crime lab, which brings together a team of both new and veteran forensic investigators.
The three returnees will be joined by some fresh faces to the franchise including Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez and Mandeep Dhillon.
The original ran for 15 seasons and 335 episodes, before wrapping up in 2015. The franchise eventually spawned four shows and a total of 800 total episodes.
Jason Tracey (“Elementary”) will serve as showrunner and executive produce with Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed.
