More than two years after it debuted at Berlinale to strong reviews, the first trailer has arrived for Timur Bekmambetov’s thriller “Profile”.

The project is a ‘Screenlife’ thriller with the entire film unfolding across computer desktops and smartphones (ala “Searching,” “Unfriended”).

Inspired by newly-named Anna Erelle’s 2015 nonfiction bestselling novel “In the Skin of a Jihadist,” the story follows undercover British journalist Amy Whittaker as she decides to pose as a recent convert to Islam in the hopes of baiting and exposing a terrorist recruiter through social media.

She soon finds herself in danger of being sucked in by her recruiter as well as her real identity and motives revealed. The real French journalist the story is based upon is currently under police protection under the identity of Érelle.

Valene Kane (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”), Shazad Latif (“Star Trek: Discovery”), Christine Adams (“Black Lightning”) and Morgan Watkins (“The Limehouse Golem”) lead the cast.
