Netflix has premiered the first trailer and poster for the ensemble adaptation of Walter Dean Myers’ 1999 legal drama novel “Monster” which debuted at Sundance three years ago.
The story follows Steve Harmon (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.) a seventeen-year-old honor student whose world comes crashing down around him when he is charged with felony murder.
This follows his dramatic journey from a smart, likeable film student from Harlem attending an elite high school through a complex legal battle that could leave him spending the rest of his life in prison.
Kelvin Harrison Jr., Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Ehle, Jeffrey Wright, John David Washington, Mikey Madison, Tim Blake Nelson, Rakim Mayers and Lovie Simone co-star.
Anthony Mandler directs from a script by Radha Blank, Janece Shaffer and Colen C. Wiley. John Legend executive produces the film which hits the streamer May 7th.
