“Orphan Black” star Tatiana Maslany will not be returning for the second season of HBO’s period detective drama “Perry Mason”.
Maslany played Sister Alice in the first season, with her story arc coming to an end in the finale. Even so, the actress hinted in interviews last year she thought Alice’s story wasn’t over.
Well now it seems she is with the Matthew Rhys-led drama moving on without her. The network confirmed Maslany’s exit from the series, the reason thought to be a scheduling conflict with her lead role in Marvel Studios’ “She-Hulk” series which is about to begin production.
The second season of “Perry Mason” hasn’t begun shooting yet, but it’s likely there was an overlap with “She-Hulk”. In the wake of her departure, Eric Lange (Detective Holcomb) and Justin Kirk (Hamilton Berger) are being upgraded to series regulars.
The first season also starred John Lithgow, Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Stephen Root, Gayle Rankin, Nate Corddry, Veronica Falcon, Jefferson Mays, Lili Taylor, Andrew Howard and Robert Patrick with many of them expected to return.
