Amazon Game Studios has announced that they have cancelled a massively multiplayer online role-playing video game based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy novels “The Lord of the Rings” reports Bloomberg.
The decision is said to be the result of a contractual dispute between Amazon and Chinese corporate monolith Tencent who purchased game co-developer Leyou Technologies.
This marks another setback for Amazon Game Studios who reportedly has struggled to release a successful title since launching in 2014 and joins projects “Breakaway” and “Crucible” which both were scuttled.
