“Doctor Who” and “Victoria” star Jenna Coleman is set to lead the upcoming TV drama series “The War Rooms”.

The project is based on the memoir “The Inner Circle” by Joan Bright and will tell the untold story of the women that worked in Winston Churchill’s secret Whitehall bunker during World War II.

Bright started the war as a secretary and ended it organizing the great Allied conferences, becoming an indispensable cog in the machine. She was also a friend of author Ian Fleming and is rumored to be one of several women in Fleming’s life who were the inspiration for the iconic character of Miss Moneypenny from Fleming’s James Bond novels.

Each season of the show aims to cover 12-18 months of World War II – from the outbreak to sustaining the fight to the final push for victory.

The series was created by David Childlow, and hails from producers David Parfitt (“The Father”) and Jamie Carmichael (“Fish Tank”). Coleman, who also executive produces, recently co-starred in BBC/Netflix miniseries “The Serpent”.
