Cronenberg’s “Crimes of the Future” Sets Start

Seven years after his last film, director David Cronenberg is getting back behind the camera and is expected to once again team with his frequent collaborator Viggo Mortensen.

A new report at Screen Daily indicates the Canadian filmmaker of such classics as “Dead Ringers,” “Videodrome,” “The Fly,” “A History of Violence” and “Cosmopolis” will kick off filming the sci-fi noir “Crimes of the Future” in Greece this Summer.

The title is a familiar one, the same as one of his earliest low-budget works from back in 1970. That film dealt with a plague unleashed by cosmetic products which kill off the entire population of sexually mature women. It’s not clear if this is a remake of that or just shares its title.

Shooting will run from August 2nd to September 10th,
