Seven-time Grammy-winning musician John Mayer is reportedly nearing a deal with the Paramount+ streaming service to host a talk and performance series.

The series will be based on the format of the BBC’s long-running “Later with Jools Holland”. The “Later With John Mayer” has been pitched to prospective broadcast partners as a series featuring performance segments and interviews with musicians, artists and other cultural figures.

All this unfolds in a setting designed to look like an after-hours club for musicians. The series would run as a weekly offering on Paramount+, while specials derived from the show’s performance segments will air periodically on CBS as well.

Mayer has his own ‘Current Mood’ show on Instagram Live, and filled in as guest host on “The Late Late Show” following Craig Ferguson’s departure.
