Apple Original Films has picked up a live filmed production of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical “Come From Away” from Entertainment One. The plan is to debut it on Apple TV+ later this year.
The play tells the true story of 7,000 passengers stranded after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in a small town in Newfoundland, where they were housed and welcomed. The original cast will return for the project which Christopher Ashley will direct.
Next, Lionsgate has acquired North American rights to Collin Schiffli’s high-octane thriller “Die in a Gunfight” with plans to release it as a multi-platform title this summer.
An unpredictable collection of schemers and killers collide when Ben (Diego Boneta) reconnects with his old flame Mary (Alexandra Daddario) to fight for their love against cruel fate itself.
Finally, Amazon Studios has acquired U.S. rights to Oscar-winning “A Separation” and “The Salesman” filmmaker Asghar Farhadi’s next film “A Hero” currently in post-production. The Farsi-language film, whose plot details are under wraps, will release later in the year.
