Luke Evans (“The Hobbit,” “Dracula Untold”) has scored one of the lead roles in the ten-episode Apple action-thriller series “Echo 3”.
“Zero Dark Thirty” scribe Mark Boal created the show which is set in South America and follows Amber Chesborough, a brilliant young scientist, who is the emotional center of a small American family.
When she goes missing along the Colombia-Venezuela border, her brother, Bambi (Evans), and her husband – two men with deep military experience and complicated pasts – struggle to find her in a drama set against the explosive backdrop of a secret war.
Boal serves as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Jason Horwitch for Apple and Keshet Studios. The series will be shot in both English and Spanish and is inspired by the novel “When Heroes Fly” by Amir Gutfreund.
Evans has been involved in numerous series of late including TNT’s “The Alienist,” Hulu’s “Nine Perfect Strangers” and the upcoming “Beauty and the Beast” prequel about his character Gaston.
