Veteran Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn will join Daisy Ridley in Neil Burger’s psychological thriller “The Marsh King’s Daughter” at STXfilms, Black Bear Pictures, and Anonymous Content.

The story centers on Ridley’s Helena, a woman living a seemingly ordinary life, but hiding a dark secret: her father is Jacob Holbrook (Mendelsohn), the infamous ‘Marsh King’ who kept her and her mother captive in the wilderness for years.

After a lifetime of trying to escape her past, she is forced to face her demons when her father unexpectedly escapes from prison. The film will be based on Karen Dionne’s best-selling novel of the same name and has been written by Elle Smith & Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”).

Teddy Schwarzman, Keith Redmon and Mark L. Smith produce and filming is expected to begin this June in Canada.
