“The LEGO Movie” helmers Phil Lord & Chris Miller are set to direct and produce a film adaptation of Michael Lewis’ book “The Premonition: A Pandemic Story” for Universal Pictures.
The book by Lewis, who also penned “The Big Short” which became the Adam McKay-directed film, follows several Americans medical visionaries in the early days of COVID-19.
These are the people who tried to sound the alarm about the dangers of underestimating the deadly seriousness of the killer virus and the possibility of an exponential spread.
The focus is on three main characters who work in the White House – a biochemist, a public health worker and a federal government employee. Their efforts helped keep death counts lower than they otherwise could have been.
The tone is said to be akin to “All the President’s Men”. Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor and Aditya Sood will also produce with a screenwriter now being sought.
The helmers are expected to tackle the project after completing the Ryan Gosling-led “Project Hail Mary” for MGM.
