Ewan McGregor recently appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to promote the Netflix series “Halston,” a brief break from work as he’s currently in production on the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” event series for the Disney+ service.
Kimmel tried to score some details about the new “Star Wars” series, which is set about a decade after the prequel trilogy, however the actor wasn’t hugely forthcoming.
He did tease his new costume and appearance for the show which sees him sporting longer hair and beard than when we last saw him in this screen universe:
“It feels great. I have to say I’m having a really, really good time. The costume is probably slightly different than you might expect. But to go back into the role, shall we say, is great. It’s all still there. It feels great. There are some great scripts and great people to work with. It’s great. I’m having a good time.”
McGregor is also very happy with The Volume, the virtual sound stages used on “The Mandalorian” to help bring things to life with projected real-world environments captured in-camera:
“Before [while shooting the prequels] we did months of blue screen and green screen acting. Now, we’ve got this extraordinary technology where you work inside of a big screen and the backgrounds are on there. It feels much more realistic.”
McGregor also confirmed he got to “play a very special scene on May the 4th with someone very special in my life” and added it wasn’t anyone we’ve seen him on camera with before.
Deborah Chow is helming the entire “Obi-Wan Kenobi” run with Hayden Christensen returning to play the role of Darth Vader.
