Peacock has ordered a third movie based on the popular comedy series “Psych” with that film to debut exclusively on the service. The project is set to begin production in Vancouver this summer.
The new entry kicks off as Gus (Dule Hull) and Selene (Jazmyn Simon) prepare for their shotgun wedding. However, before the festivities, Gus and Shawn (James Roday Rodriguez) go on a quest to find Selene’s estranged husband.
Timothy Omundson and Maggie Lawson are set to reprise their roles as Carlton Lassiter and Juliet O’Hara respectively. The new film follows the first in 2017 which aired on USA Network, and the second last year which was one of the early launch titles of Peacock.
That’s not the only move that Peacock is making today as its “Joe Exotic” series, starring Kate McKinnon and John Cameron Mitchell, will now air only exclusively on Peacock rather than in collaboration with NBC and USA as planned.
Based on the Wondery Podcast, the show centers on Carole Baskin (Kate McKinnon), a big cat enthusiast, who learns that fellow exotic animal lover Joe ‘Exotic’ Schreibvogel (John Cameron Mitchell ) is breeding and using his big cats for profit. She sets out to shut down his venture, inciting a quickly escalating rivalry.
The streamer has also ordered four spin-off series of its various non-scripted shows including “Top Chef Family Style,” “Below Deck Down Under,” a kids version of “American Ninja Warrior,” and a baking-themed spinoff of “Making It”. They’ve also ordered four other unscripted projects – a thirteen-part docuseries from Paris Hilton, a new music competition series featuring JoJo Siwa, and a hybrid alternative-scripted series hosted by Ed Helms and Randall Park.
