Betty Gilpin, Shea Whigham, and Darby Camp have all been cast in Starz’s Watergate drama series “Gaslit,” joining Julia Roberts, Sean Penn, and Dan Stevens.
Roberts plays a celebrity Arkansan socialite and wife to President Nixon’s loyal Attorney General John Mitchell (Penn). She’s also the first person to publicly sound the alarm on Nixon’s involvement in Watergate.
“GLOW” and “The Hunt” star Gilpin will star as Mo Dean, a former stewardess who meets John Dean (Stevens) on a blind date and falls in love with him just as he becomes a central figure in the scandal.
Whigham (“Homecoming,” “Perry Mason”) will play G. Gordon Liddy, the former FBI agent and chief operative of Nixon’s ‘Plumbers’ – spearheading the Watergate espionage operation.
Camp (“Big Little Lies,” “The Leftovers”) will play Marty Mitchell, Martha Mitchell’s daughter who spent much of her young life living in her mother’s shadow.
The series is based on the award-winning Slate podcast “Slow Burn” with Robbie Pickering serving as creator and showrunner. Matt Ross will serve as director and will executive produce with Sam Esmail and Chad Hamilton.
