Oscar nominee Richard E. Grant along with Cosmo Jarvis (“Lady Macbeth”), Suki Waterhouse (“The Bad Batch”) and Nikki Amuka-Bird (“NW”) are joining Netflix’s new adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1817 novel “Persuasion”.
This reimagining is dubbed a modern and witty approach to the beloved story while still remaining true to its source material. Dakota Johnson stars as Anne Elliott, a non-conforming woman with modern sensibilities who is living with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy.
When Frederick Wentworth (Jarvis) – the dashing one she once sent away – crashes back into her life, she must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances.
They join Henry Golding who is set to portray Anne’s cousin. Also onboard are Ben Harvey Bailey Smith aka Doc Brown, Izuka Hoyle, Mia McKenna-Bruce and Nia Towle.
Carrie Cracknell will direct from a screenplay co-adapted by Ron Bass and Alice Victoria Winslow.
