Lionsgate has set a February 4th 2022 release date for Roland Emmerich’s $140 million sci-fi feature “Moonfall” starring Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Pena, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu and Donald Sutherland.
The film sees a mysterious force knocking the moon from its orbit around Earth and sending it hurtling on a collision course with use.
With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Wilson), and conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (Bradley) believe her.
The unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space only to find out that our moon is not what we think it is. Production on the film was just getting underway in Canada when COVID hit, causing months of delays. The shoot finally began in October in Montreal.
That’s not the only release date news today. Following yesterday’s news of its Cannes premiere, Searchlight Pictures has scheduled an October 12th U.S. release date for Wes Anderson’s comedic drama “The French Dispatch”.
Benicio del Toro, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Timothee Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan star in the film about the stories that form part of the final issue of an American magazine working out of an office in France in the mid 20th century.
“The French Dispatch” will go up against Edgar Wright’s “Last Night in Soho” and Clint Eastwood’s “Cry Macho” on the same date.
