Ryan Kiera Armstrong has landed the lead role of Charlie in the new adaptation of Stephen King’s “Firestarter” at Blumhouse, Weed Road Pictures and Universal Pictures.
The first photo from the film has also been released above showing Armstrong in costume in a role made famous by Drew Barrymore in the original 1984 feature.
The actress, born in 2010, has been acting since she was five both on TV in “Anne with an E” and the new season of “American Horror Story,” and on film in “The Glorias” and most famously as the young girl with the port-wine facial birthmark attacked by Pennywise under the bleachers in “IT: Chapter Two”.
The story follows a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.
Zac Efron and Michael Greyeyes co-star in the film directed by Keith Thomas from a screenplay adapted by Scott Teems (“Halloween Kills”). Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman are producing.
