Netflix has acquired the screen rights to Marcus Kliewer’s novella “We Used to Live Here” with plans to turn it into a psychological thriller vehicle for Blake Lively (“The Shallows,” “A Simple Favor”) to star in and produce.
The story begins when a new homeowner (Lively), still adjusting to the old house she now lives in, gets a knock at her door while her partner is at work.
It’s a rather peculiar husband, wife and kids who say the dad once lived in that house and wanted to take a look around. As a snowstorm strands the visitors, things get progressively weirder as this family won’t leave and the homeowner can’t get rid of them.
Kate Vorhoff, Scott Glassgold, Matt Reeves and Adam Kassan will also produce. Lively recently signed on to star in and produce an adaptation of the Dark Horse comic “Lady Killer” also at Netflix.
