Sharlto Copley (“Hardcore Henry”), Iyana Halley (“The Hate U Give”) and Leah Sava Jeffries (“Rel”) have filled out the key cast of the Idris Elba-led “Beast” at Universal Pictures.
Elba stars as a recently widowed husband who returns to South Africa, where he first met his wife, on a long-planned trip with his 18-year-old (Halley) and 13-year-old (Jeffries) daughters to a game reserve managed by an old family friend and wildlife biologist (Copley).
What begins as a journey of healing jolts into a fearsome fight for survival when a rogue lion, a survivor of blood-thirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins stalking them.
Baltasar Kormakur (“Adrift,” “Everest”) helms the film which recently began a ten-week shoot in the rural provinces of Limpopo and Northern Cape and in the city of Cape Town in South Africa.
Ryan Engle (“Rampage”) penned the script, Will Packer and James Lopez produce and the movie has set an August 19th 2022 release date.
