“Parks and Recreation” star Nick Offerman has joined Amazon’s series adaptation of Penny Marshall’s 1992 female baseball league-themed period comedy film “A League of Their Own”.
Here, Offerman will portray the inspiring and charismatic Casey ‘Dove’ Porter – an ex-Cubs pitcher brought in to coach the Rockford Peaches. Casey got his nickname from a time when his forkball killed a dove in mid-air in the middle of a game.
The hour-long series will tell the story of an entire generation of women who dreamed of playing professional baseball. It will also explore issues of race and sexuality as we follow a whole new ensemble of characters as they carve out their own paths.
The series is co-created and executive produced by “Broad City” alum Abbi Jacobson and Will Graham. Jacobson, Chante Adams, D’Arcy Carden, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Roberta Colindrez, Kelly McCormack, and Priscilla Delgado also star.
Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television produce while Jamie Babbit directed the pilot.
