Assayas’ “Irma Vep” HBO Series Casts Up

Adria Arjona (“6 Underground”), Carrie Brownstein (“Portlandia”), Jerrod Carmichael (“Ramy”), Devon Ross, and Fala Chen (“The Undoing”) will join Alicia Vikander in the limited series “Irma Vep” for HBO and A24.

Vikander plays a disillusioned American actress fresh off a break-up who joins a remake of the French silent film classic “Les Vampires”.

She soon struggles as the distinctions between herself and her film character begin to blur and merge – not uncommon territory for the “Clouds of Sils Maria” helmer.

Arjona plays her ex-assistant and girlfriend, Brownstein her agent, Carmichael her ex-boyfriend in Paris for a movie, Ross as her current assistant and a cinephile, and Chen as a rising star from Hong Kong.

Olivier Assayas serves as writer, director, and executive producer of this reimagining of his own 1996 film of the same name. Vikander will also executive produce with Sylvie Barthet, Sam Levinson, Ashley Levinson, Kevin Turen, Stuart Manashil, Ravi Nandan, and Hallie Sekoff
