Celebrated actor/writer Michaela Coel (“I May Destroy You,” “Chewing Gum”) has joined the ensemble cast of Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.
Specifics of her new character are under wraps, though she has reportedly already joined director Ryan Coogler at Atlanta’s Pinewood Studios where filming began last month.
The movie sees the return of almost all the original film’s major cast, bar the obvious absence of the late Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa. The film will not recast or digitally recreate him, but it’s not clear how they intend to write a story around his absence.
Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett are all expected to appear in this follow-up to the $1.3 billion worldwide box office hit.
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is set to open July 8th 2022.
