Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and Prince Harry’s aunt, is reportedly in talks with streaming platforms to develop a “Bridgerton”-esque period drama series.
The series will be an adaptation of her debut historical novel “Her Heart for a Compass” which will be published in early August. Co-written with her longtime collaborator Marguerite Kaye, the story deals with Fergie’s great-great-aunt Lady Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott.
Set during the Victorian era, it takes place in a series of grand mansions across England, Scotland and Ireland as well as hopping over to 1870s New York. Ferguson’s team is already in talks with at least one streamer and will be approaching others like Amazon and Netflix once a proper screen treatment of the book is finalized.
Ferguson has dabbled in entertainment before, conceiving and producing the Emily Blunt-led film “The Young Victoria”. Her popular children’s book series “Budgie the Little Helicopter” was previously adapted for television.
