Delroy Lindo has been cast in a lead role in the upcoming six-episode Amazon series adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s novel “Anansi Boys”.
The story follows Charlie Nancy, a young man who is used to being embarrassed by his estranged father. But when his father dies, Charlie discovers that his father was Anansi/Mr. Nancy (Lindo) – the charming trickster god of stories.
He also learns that he has a brother. Now his brother, Spider, is entering Charlie’s life, determined to make it more interesting but also making it a lot more dangerous.
Orlando Jones played another version of the Mr. Nancy character in Starz’s recently cancelled “American Gods” series but this will not tie into that in any way.
Lindo is coming off a four-year stint on the highly acclaimed Paramount+ series “The Good Fight” along with massive critical acclaim for his role in “Da 5 Bloods”. He’ll next be seen in Netflix’s western “The Harder They Fall”.
Gaiman and Douglas Mackinnon (“Good Omens) will reunite on the project as co-showrunners. Gaiman, Lenny Henry, Arvind Ethan David, Kara Smith and Racheal Ofori will serve as writers while Hanelle M. Culpepper (“Star Trek: Picard”) helms the pilot.
Production is slated to begin later this year in Scotland.
