Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield and comedian Tiffany Haddish are in negotiations to play the leads in Disney’s new family adventure film adaptation of the theme park ride “Haunted Mansion”.
The story will follow a family that moves into said mansion. Stanfield stars as a widower who once believed in the supernatural but is now a lifeless tour guide in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Haddish plays a psychic hired to commune with the dead.
Justin Simien (“Dear White People,” Bad Hair”) makes his big-budget studio directing debut from a script by Katie Dippold. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback will produce.
The project is aiming to shoot in Louisiana this Fall. The project has no connection to the previous 2003 film adaptation starring Eddie Murphy.
