Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” sequel won’t be the only all-star murder mystery ensemble film arriving next year.
Searchlight Pictures has announced that “This Country” director Tom George’s untitled feature has finally scored a title – “See How They Run”. In addition, the full cast and character details have been revealed along with the first photo above.
Mark Chappell’s script unfolds on the West End of 1950s London where plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is murdered.
When world-weary Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) and eager rookie Constable Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) take on the case, the two find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit within the glamorously sordid theater underground, investigating the mysterious homicide at their own peril.
Joining the pair are Adrien Brody as an unscrupulous film director, David Oyelowo as the celebrated screenwriter, Ruth Wilson as a stage impresario, Reece Shearsmith as an esteemed film producer along with Sian Clifford as his wife and Pippa Bennett-Warner as his mistress.
Also onboard are Shirley Henderson as a famed Dame, Paul Chahidi as the Dame’s butler, Charlie Cooper as an usher, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd as a taxidermist with a secret, Pearl Chanda as a celebrated actress trying for screen success, and Harris Dickinson as the suspicious husband of that actress.
The project was shot earlier this year at the Dominion Theatre, St. Martin’s Theatre and Old Vic Theatre. The movie will get a theatrical release sometime in 2022.
