Russell Crowe has been announced as director of the thriller “Poker Face” which is currently filming on location in Sydney, Australia.
Set in the world of high stakes poker and international finance, Crowe plays a tech billionaire caught in a risky card game.
The original script had the story set in Miami, but it has since been switched to unfold in Sydney and is expected to include a cross-city car chase sequence.
However the city is currently in lockdown and is expected to remain so until at least the end of August in its toughest health restrictions of the pandemic era to date.
Liam Hemsworth, Elsa Pataky and RZA co-star with Pataky, the “Fast and Furious” star and Chris Hemsworth’s wife, playing a glamorous croupier.
Crowe previously directed “The Water Diviner” in 2014 and is behind the initiative to build a new studio at Byron Bay.
Filming will take place at the Fox Studios complex which has been home to the shoots of Marvel’s “Shang Chi” and “Thor: Love and Thunder” for the past year.
