Mike Colter (“Luke Cage,” “The Good Fight,” “Evil”) has booked a ticket for the Gerard Butler-led action thriller “The Plane” at Lionsgate.

Filmmaker Jean-Francois Richet is directing the film which stars Butler as a passenger jet pilot named Brodie Torrance who pulls off a heroic job of successfully landing his storm-damaged aircraft on a remote island.

Unfortunately, they have landed in hostile territory and find themselves threatened by militant pirates who want to take the plane and its passengers hostage. As the world searches for the disappeared aircraft, Brodie must rise to the occasion and keep his passengers safe until help arrives.

Colter will play Louis Gaspare, a cool-headed, ex-military man being extradited to Canada on charges of homicide when the plane crash lands. Model Kelly Gale has also joined the cast in her acting debut, her role is unspecified.

Charles Cumming, JP Davis and Matt Cook penned the script and production is expected to begin later this month in Puerto Rico.
