Trek Boss Plans “Starfleet Academy” Series

Current “Star Trek” TV boss Alex Kurtzman has revealed that the Paramount+ streaming service is developing another “Trek” series, this one centered on the Starfleet Academy.

Speaking with The New York Times, Kurtzman says the show will be “built around the Starfleet Academy, which will be aimed at a younger audience.” It’s not clear if it will be a live-action or animated series.

It joins multiple series on the air that run a range of genres from adult animated comedy (“Star Trek: Lower Decks”), kids animation (“Star Trek: Prodigy”), to more adult action/dramas (“Star Trek: Discovery,” “Star Trek: Picard”) and more classic formula Trek (“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”).
