Catherine Zeta-Jones has been set as Morticia Addams in Tim Burton’s upcoming live-action Addams Family-inspired “Wednesday” series for Netflix. Burton makes his television directorial debut with this new take on the classic comic strip turned sitcom turned 1990s features.
Jenna Ortega is set to portray the titular role of Wednesday Addams in what is dubbed a “coming-of-age comedy that will be a sleuthing, supernaturally-infused mystery” as we follow her years as a student at the peculiar Nevermore Academy.
Zeta-Jones takes on a role played by Carolyn Jones in the original series, Anjelica Huston in the films, and voiced by Charlize Theron in the recent animated films. Luis Guzman was recently cast as her husband Gomez Addams.
Al Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville,” “Into the Badlands”) serve as showrunners on the eight-episode series.
