“Aquaman” and “Candyman” star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has signed on to lead the dystopian crime thriller “By All” which hails from “Creed II” director Steven Caple Jr. and has been set up at Legendary Entertainment, Gotham Group and Warner Bros. Pictures.
Seen as a potential franchise starter for its star, the story is set in a world without police and one where justice is crowd-sourced. In the aftermath of a tragic event, a man named Donte (Abdul-Mateen) is forced to go on the run.
The work will explore themes of the imbalance of power in communities and how it warps senses of responsibility, family and friendship.
Juel Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier wrote the script and the short story on which the film is based. Caple, Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson produce.
Abdul-Mateen is currently shooting “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in London,” will be seen in the upcoming fourth “The Matrix” and Michael Bay’s “Ambulance,” and will soon begin filming George Miller’s “Mad Max” prequel “Furiosa” alongside Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy.
