40% Of Netflix’s Library Is Originals

As studios have started taking back their content from rival SVOD services for their own, those services are going to be more reliant than ever on original product.

Netflix boasts around 209 million subscribers and has emerged as one of the biggest film studios of the streaming age.

What’s On Netflix (via Collider) reports this week that 2,400 Netflix Original titles now account for 40% of the streamer’s U.S. library which sits at around 6,000 titles across film and TV.

Just eighteen months ago, right before the pandemic’s start, Netflix Original titles accounted for only 25% of the service’s total library.

Internationally the streamer is expected to have more licensed content exclusive to certain countries, and plenty of Netflix Originals aren’t produced in-house by the service – rather they’re simply exclusively licensed by Netflix.
