Universal Pictures has set an April 7th 2023 release date for the tenth major entry in the “Fast and Furious” franchise.
This penultimate chapter will again be directed by Justin Lin, who directed the third through sixth films and the recent ninth,
Franchise regulars Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Chris Bridges, Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez are all expected to return though Dwayne Johnson will not be back. Whether John Cena will reprise his role as Jakob Toretto is unknown.
“F9” grossed over $170 million in the U.S. and over $500 million globally despite mixed reviews. Whilst that’s considerably down on previous entries, it’s likely to still emerge as one of the year’s biggest box-office performers.
That film is also getting a director’s cut for its home video release with seven minutes of extra footage – pushing the runtime to 150 minutes. The movie arrives on regular VOD on September 7th and on disc on September 21st.
