Frank Oz: Disney’s “Muppets” Don’t Want Me

Frank Oz says he is not welcome by the Muppetverse’s new owners Disney.

The famed actor, puppeteer and filmmaker performed the Muppet characters of Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, and Sam Eagle in the original “The Muppet Show”.

However in a new interview with The Guardian this week, he suggests the issue is the property is now in the hands of a corporation who doesn’t understand the appeal of what they have:

“I’d love to do the Muppets again but Disney doesn’t want me. They don’t want me because I won’t follow orders and I won’t do the kind of Muppets they believe in. The soul’s not there. The soul is what makes things grow and be funny.
